Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance? And why is the answer no?

Frankly, insurance companies are… the worst. They work and compensate in a way that doesn’t match up with my values and capacity for paperwork. I find that leaving out that hullabaloo leaves me a lot more space to be present with my clients.

That said, if your insurance plan allows for reimbursement for out-of-network providers, I can provide the necessary documents. Not all insurance plans offer this, so be sure to double check with your provider.

Here are some questions you might want to ask your insurance company to find out if this might work for you:

  • Does my plan include mental health benefits?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

  • Does my insurance plan offer out-of-network benefits?

  • What is my reimbursement rate?

What is your session rate?

$180 per 50-minute session. As I mentioned above, your insurance plan may be willing to reimburse you for some or all of the cost. It’s not a bad idea to check.

I’ve never done therapy before. What’s it like?

Everyone’s experience is a little different, but I’ve always found therapy to be really interesting and fun. It doesn’t have to be as clinical or somber as you see on TV. My methods of treatment and discovery are very representative of who I am and what I enjoy. A combination of talk therapy, visualization, creative prompts and collaboration make it a holistic and playful experience.

I’ve had bad experiences with therapy before. Why should I think this time will be different?

Sometimes you and a certain individual practitioner just won’t jive, and that’s okay! Sometimes your life circumstances change and you need different support than before.

Shopping around for the right therapist is a great idea. Hopefully, we’ll be a good fit. My approach to therapy keeps the tone light, personal, and fun. I encourage non-judgmental trial and error in a supportive and spacious environment.

I have some nontraditional and marginalized identities and relationship dynamics. Will I be safe in your practice?

I am size inclusive, dedicated to anti-racist and LGBTQ-friendly practices, and support all consensual adult relationship styles. I will honor your identities and let your personal kaleidoscope of experiences inform our work together. I encourage you to take space to breathe and bring your authentic self to our sessions. Unpacking internal bias is an important lifelong practice to which I am dedicated.

Do you offer virtual telehealth appointments?

Yes, my practice is fully online! I work with people all over the state of Massachusetts.
